Hamilton + Aitken’s design staff was hard at work all summer break to help the entire construction team accomplish their goals of completing several phases of construction on time for first day of school.
Edward, Amy, Lisa, Xavi and Thomas were on call to answer questions, and assisting with resolving field details to keep the construction team working smoothly. The result was the successful completion of a wing of classrooms, a dance studio, art studio and band room. The Art Deco auditorium was refurbished and painted, and the cafeteria and kitchen were completely remodeled to open the space and improve the circulation and light. This achievement is doubly successful when one considers that a seismic upgrade of concrete shear walls and steel collector beams was inserted before the finishes were applied.
There was a lot of excitement over the new water fountains throughout the renovation. The cafeteria bottle filler kept staff and construction crew hydrated. Other corridor fountains incorporate a lively tile design that interprets the historic patterned tiles of the original 1930’s design.
