H+A’s Historic Rehabilitation of the Maritime Center recently won a City of Richmond Historic Preservation Award. The Maritime Center was one of two childcare centers built to accommodate Rosie the Riveters working in the nearby Richmond shipyards during World War II. This historic center was preserved, adapted for contemporary joint educational and recreational uses, and designed to meet the requirements for LEED Gold for Schools certification.
