Hildebrand Hall D54 Laser Lab

University of California, Berkeley

The Hildebrand Hall D54 Laser Lab is a new laser lab installation in the existing lower basement lab space of Hildebrand Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. It includes new optical benches and work areas, plus lab support including mechanical systems to maintain the temperature within +/- one-half degree range, HEPA filtration and laminar flow control. Cryogenic cooling equipment, and lighting and power appropriate to the laser lab’s needs.

At Hildebrand Hall D54 Laser Lab we needed to address several areas along the entrance path of travel and in the restrooms that were out of compliance. These included replacing doors and door mats, replacing areas of ceramic tile around drains to bring the floors to required tolerances for slope, adjusting the heights of mirrors and other accessories to bring them within accessible reach ranges, and adjusting wall surfaces so that existing toilets are the right distance from grab bars.
