Reema Issa – Designer
Reema Issa is interested in ecological design, particularly how historic cities were designed to create comfortable living spaces without the use of electricity. For her Masters thesis Reema designed a new multi-family housing type that reached Passivhaus standards while bringing all the amenities of the suburban house to a more urban and sustainable setting. She has been creating spaces from a very young age and takes pride in her ability to efficiently space plan. These skills have come to play a vital role as she has joined the design team for restrooms and interiors for San Francisco International Airport Terminal One renovation. After a year and a half of designing, the new terminal is being rebuilt with the intention of achieving LEED v.4 GOLD
A Bay Area native, Reema has volunteered for multiple Americorps programs including Magnolia Project, and spent a summer in New Orleans rebuilding homes in low income areas that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Reema has recently been asked to become a One Brick Event Manager for her on going contribution to volunteer events in the city of San Francisco.
