Liza Talavera – Designer

Liza Talavera is a recent graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where she received her Bachelor of Architecture and her minor in Sustainable Environments. During her time at Cal Poly, Liza spent a year abroad in Florence, Italy. Her time abroad allowed her to appreciate architecture’s rich history through her many visits to ancient ruins and old Gothic and Renaissance cathedrals. Since studying architecture in a different country, Liza has been exposed to different approaches to architectural design. Liza is passionate about innovative, collaborative and purposeful designs.

For her thesis project at Cal Poly, she designed a public market and culinary school on a site located in San Diego. Through this project, she explored architecture’s potential to affect social interaction. During her time at Cal Poly, Liza was able to take several classes outside of the field of architecture, opening her mind to different ways of thinking. She has come to the realization architecture is interconnected with many different fields and hopes to explore those connections throughout her professional career.

When possible, Liza enjoys traveling and learning about new places and cultures. Traveling is what sparked her interest in architecture and continues to inspire her today.
